Location: 42.902081, -115.692585
Terrain: Desert

Why We Selected This Location

This location has many features that resonated with LINEAR founder Chris Rullie's personal and military background. The vastness of the desert planes woven together by towering sand dunes- that almost resemble the braiding a fast rope would present. There is without a doubt a deep calling into this terrain for those who have served. Soft sand is, unrelenting and extremely technical, the perfect testing ground for the LINEAR Team.

Elements

For this evolution we chose items that could be transported by hand, individually. The battle rope, the kettle bells, the weight vest, body armor, medicine ball and sandbags. These are practical items and anyone whether training on their own, or in a team can utilize in this environment. Additionally, these elements are found at nearly any military base, due to their versatility.

The Gear

Shorts: This environment became a cornerstone when developing our Baseline Short.  What we needed from the shorts was an extremely durable shell that could withstand the impacts of these elements while pairing it with a liner that was next to skin, and exceptionally airy to keep you cool during the progressions. When you are faced with performing rigorous activity in a hostile environment, your clothing becomes equipment, and it matters what its DNA is.

Features like the secure zip pockets to ensure the sandbox doesn’t consume your valuables, becomes even more critical when you're dealing with the daunting challenge of traversing dunes and water elements. Loosing the keys to your only ticket out of the terrain is just not an option. This is why it was designed this way.

The Tank and Shirt: We didn’t just consider this environment during the design phase of the shirts and tanks, it was a focal point. Coming from the military, where wearing rucks, body armor and just plain carrying your buddy up and over a sand berm for fun was a daily exercise. From athletic to aesthetic, our tops were created for this environment and the workout that took place.

Too many other shirts and tank tops on the market were killed, simply by strapping on a weight vest or body armor and conducting critical training exercises. We found they break, it peels, it stinks.. and it eventually rips and becomes unusable.

Chris personally understands that the gear needs to be optimal for these types of evolutions. That the fabric alone isn't enough to save it form the pounding it would be taking form body armor or a weight vest, so we infused every fabric of LINEAR gear with anti-pilling / anti-abrasion / anti-odor and anti-microbial technology.

Engineering our gear with these additional layers of protection, ensures that even after this brutal dunes workout, our gear stays pristine and odor free, ready for the next challenge.

With LINEAR Gear - There Is A Reason For Everything

We specifically placed our logo at the crest of the shoulder blades, so it would just peek through the body armor and weight vest straps. A bit of subtle flex, just enough to let the people know who are behind you, why you’re at the front of the pack.
