Team LINEAR On Location In Idaho's Table Rock Quarry
Location: 43.594297, -116.142833
Terrain: Mountainous High Elevation
Why We Selected This Location
Trail running and exploration is in every single persons DNA. Covering ground, especially technical ground is critical for not just peak physical performance, but optimal mental performance as well. Negotiating terrain that changes from a simple goat trail to scaling jagged sandstone ridge lines is not for your average apparel. There is a reason why having specialized gear for unique terrain is a real thing for professionals, or even those who demand more when facing these elements.
LINEAR founder Chris Rullie religiously runs these trails, scaling the sandstone pathways miles above the city scape and as you gain elevation, eventually the dusty goat trail and open sky, becomes earthy black soil with canopy cover from the trees. When you cover this much ground in one trail run, having nutrients and critical elements along for the ride is crucial. That is why our Baseline Series shorts are built with such a robust offering of storage and capability. For this exact terrain.
Elements
The elements we chose to implement at this location, would be ones you would see many trail runners, military and first responders training with. Rucks, weight vests, sand bags and of course, running slick or without gear at all. Each element presents a unique challenge, especially the trail runner, where your only stowing ability is within your shorts. Not having stowing ability while on far solo runs is not only inconvenient, but dangerous. We built this gear with these features because we use them ourselves, and expect them.
The Gear
The Baseline Tank: Something I wanted to accomplish for the tank top specifically was the ability to improve ROM or range of motion not just in the gym setting, but in the outdoor environments. Having a slight drop neck design completely frees up the otherwise restrictive neck line presented in other brands. You don’t even realize your wearing a top is so freeing, that was its purpose in design.
The Baseline Shirt: Having the gear built in the way that not only protected you, but moved with you was a big piece to this that took many refinements to perfect. I highlight our duel stitching pattern running parallel down your shoulders, preventing the seams from riding directly underneath your ruck straps or weight vest, eliminating the chafing one would normally get from other brands who have an annoying single seam digging into our skin from the weight of the load. Not our gear. it was designed for this.
The Baseline Shorts: are designed with those who adventure and push elevations in mind. We wanted a side pocket to stow supplements, without bouncing around and distracting from what is most critical, minding the terrain. Securing keys not just in the side zip pockets, but the small built in key / wallet pouch within the pocket, prevents items from moving around as well. Every single thing on these shorts were built with intention and purpose.
